Influence of Surface Texture on Sealing Performance of PTFE Materials

Due to the hydrodynamic pressure effect, bearing capacity of oil film on surface a textured friction pair is greater than that smooth surface. In this paper, effects PTFE texture parameters (shape, depth, width, and area ratio) leakage sealing system under lubrication are studied using FLURNT simulation. It found in present study depths do not necessarily lead better performance. When depth exceeds certain level, reverse flow occurs at bottom texture, thereby weakening effect. An optimal 5–10 μm maximizes capacity. Within range, increases along with widths. addition, rectangular rises significantly growing Larger ratios result higher leakage, but first then falls an increase ratio, maximum value 70–80%. Considering influence selecting most appropriate for treatment optimizes performance system. The findings paper provide theoretical basis improving high-end aviation equipment treatment, enabling application technology improve tribological properties materials.
